Which Side Is Which- Backs and Faces
There is often confusion over which side of a card is which. In normal playing card decks (this excludes flash cards) the common side of the card (which is the same on all cards in the deck) is referred to as the BACK.
The side of the cards containing the pips (suits/digits- e.g., ace of hearts) is referred to as the FACE.
Playing Card Sizes
Standard Sizes -
Poker and Bridge
While playing cards can come in virtually any size, the two standard playing card sizes are Poker and Bridge.
Poker Size Cards
Poker size cards are, by far, the most common cards in production. Poker cards measure 2.5″ wide by 3.5″ tall. Click HERE for templates
Bridge Size Cards
While slightly less common than poker size, bridge size cards are still very common. Bridge cards measure 2.25″ x 3.5″. Click HERE for templates
Tarot / Oracle Cards
While there is no “standard” size for tarot or oracle cards, they are typically oversized (ie- larger than poker size) cards. Your cards can be created in any size, to your specs, although custom sized cards require a custom die to be created, and higher minimums apply.
Card Stocks
We use only the finest quality card stocks… from plastic coated 280gsm paper cards through 100% plastic and KEM quality plastic cards stocks. Cards are also available in 2 finishes- smooth (ideal for high color graphics and photos) and linen finish (textured like cloth for better shuffling/dealing.
